fugitive American

BY MARICAR ARANAS

A fugitive American national facing child abuse charges in the United States was apprehended by the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation and the Dumaguete City police at a hotel in the city, at about 10 a.m. Monday.

The suspect identified as Stanley Dan Reczko, III, 42, married, from Handerson Hauburn, New York, in the US, was collared by immigration officer Delausan Monon, assisted by city policemen, on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by the Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan. The BID said Reczko also violated Philippine immigration laws.

Dumaguete PNP chief, Supt. Dionardo Carlos, said the suspect was charged in the US, and hinted that Reczko could be a pedophile as he has a 16-year-old Filipina wife in the Philippines.

He said the marriage to a minor Filipina is void. Carlos said they want to know the situation of the Filipina who could also be a victim of abuse by the American.

Upon his arrest, Reczko was immediately brought to Cebu City, escorted by immigration officer Delausan Monon, for the processing of his deportation documents.

As of press time, they refused to divulge the name of the Filipina wife to the public while the case is under investigation, and because the girl is a minor.*MA
