SP committee chairmen named

Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco announced the names of the chairmen of the 24 committees of the Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan at their inaugural session yesterday.

Board Member Miller Serondo of the second district of Negros Occidental again heads the powerful Finance, Budget and Appropriations Committee.

Board members who head the other committees are: Edgardo Acuņa -- Committee on Tourism; Janet Torres -- Committee on Senior Citizens, Women and Family; Mae Javellana - committees on Natural Resources and Environment Protection, and Rights and Welfare of the Negros Child;

Adolfo Mangao Sr. -- committees on Cooperatives, and Agriculture; Patrick Leonard Lacson -- committees on Human Rights, and Trade Commerce and Industry; Emilio Yulo III -- committees on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government, and Education, Culture and Arts;

Manuel Frederick Ko -- committees on Personnel and Labor, and Public Works and Infrastructure; Macario Zafra Jr. -- committees on Social Welfare and Social Services, and Government Assets;

Renato Gustilo -- committees on Peace and Public Safety, and Public Utilities, Facilities and Franchises; Nehemias de la Cruz -- committees on Energy, and Livelihood and Rural Development; Dr. Melvin Ibaņez -- committees on Health, and Housing and Land Use;

Lorenzo Suatengco, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president - Committee on Youth and Sports Development; and George Gitano, Association of Barangay Captains president -- Committee on Barangay Affairs.

The Committee on Internal Rules and Public Ethics is reserved for the head of the Philippine Councilors League - Negros Occidental chapter who has yet to be elected by his or her peers, Zayco said.*CPG
