Pacquiao no show
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The trainor of Philippine ring icon Manny Pacquiao apologized yesterday for the latter's failure to come to the inaugural ceremony of the incoming Bacolod City public officials.

Boboy Fernandez, who represented Pacquiao at the ceremony held at the Bacolod Public Plaza yesterday, said the boxing champ had an obligation to his children and could not come. However, he thanked the Bacoleņos for their support for Pacquiao and for their prayers for his upcoming fights.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said Pacquiao, Bacolod's adopted son, called him up and told him during the weekend that he is coming for the inaugural ceremony, but later texted him that he was asked by his wife Jinky to attend to the needs of his children in school.

Leonardia read Pacquiao's text message in Ilonggo saying he is ashamed that he could not make it since he was asked by his wife to spend time with them before he leaves for the U.S., on Tuesday.

In his text message Pacquiao again asked Leonardia to hold his championship belt in his next fight.*CGS
