David Albert Lacson, 31, and the youngest mayor elected in the
history of E.B.Magalona, yesterday was sworn in as the new chief
executive of the town before Judge Evelyn Gengos.
In his inaugural address, Lacson said E.B. Magalona is now
blessed with support not only from Negros Occidental Governor Joseph
Maraņon but also of Rep. Jose Carlos Lacson (Neg. Occ., 3rd district).
In the first 100 days of his administration, Lacson said he
will give priority to the rehabilitation of the drainage system
as well as the public market, a new facelift of the municipal hall.
"We will bring the government closer to the people of Saravia,
not the other way around", he stressed.
The town is now officially known as E.B. Magalona.
Lacson also reported that the provincial government has already
sent heavy equipment to start the rehabilitation of the drainage
system.
The acquisition of a fire truck, which Lacson said he was
pushing since 2004, is expected to arrive from Japan on July 15.
Lacson, nephew of former Negros Occidental Governor Daniel Lacson,
joined politics at the age 21 as a member of the Sangguniang Bayan
of E.B. Magalona in 2001. Three years after, he became the town
vice-mayor and was elected mayor in the recent May 14 synchronized
elections. He told the people of Saravia to feel free to approach
him as he is ready to listen to comments and suggestions, as long
as it is for the good of everyone, and the municipality.*GPB
