Photo exhibit showcases
legacy of RP flag carrier

A photo exhibit on the history of national flag carrier Philippine Airlines called "PAL at 66: Beyond a Proud Legacy," will be staged at the South Wing of SM City in Bacolod July 4 to 10, a press release from organizers said.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia will be the guest of honor at the opening of the exhibit at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, with the ceremonial ribbon-cutting to be led by Bacolod First Lady Elsa Leonardia, and Josefa Puentevella, wife of Rep. Monico Puentevella.

PAL Bacolod manager Job L. Lamela, along with Vice President for Corporate Communications, Rolando Estabillo, and other Manila-based officials will welcome the guests.

The exhibit is part of the 66th anniversary of the company. It was first staged in Manila in March and is in Bacolod on its third and last leg of provincial tour. It was held in Davao in May and in Cebu last month. Over 100 rare photographs depict the trailblazing role of PAL in commercial aviation not just in the Philippines but in the Asian region as well, the press release said.

The photos trace the s crucial role of PAL in nation-building, beginning at the onset of the Second World War to today's fast-paced world.

An interesting sidelight is the PAL having flown two Popes, all Philippine presidents, world leaders and statesmen, Hollywood celebrities, international beauty queens, champion athletes, and millions of ordinary Filipinos in 66 years, the press release added.*
