No drug
paraphernalia seized in raid

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group clarified that no drug paraphernalia were confiscated in the raid conducted on an alleged numbers game "Pick 3" financier last Tuesday in Guihulngan, Oriental Negros.

The suspect was identified as Rowel Macalua of Mani-ac Road, Barangay Hilaitan in Guihulngan. Macalua eluded arrest by operatives of the CIDG during a raid in his house.

The CIDG agents were armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court, Branch 34 Judge Rosendo Bandal, Jr.

CIDG Provincial Chief S/Insp. Ricahrd Caballero said, the suspect escaped before the raiding team arrived in the area. However the team confiscated materials allegedly used by Macalua like tally sheets and P6,100 in cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal activity.

Macalua is facing charges for violating Republic Act 9287 or illegal gambling, Caballero added.*MA
