Bacolod surpassing neighbors

BY
CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. yesterday lauded Bacolod City for being in the process of surpassing its neighbors through an agenda that builds human resource programs for the Information Technology industry.

"This means generating jobs, building commerce and sustaining local businesses," Revilla said in his speech at the inaugural ceremony of the incoming government officials of Bacolod City at the public plaza, where he was guest of honor and speaker.

Bacolod is also at the forefront of becoming known as "climate friendly city," he said, being identified as a pilot area for the integrated waste management and sustainable energy project. moremoremore

Let's ready groundwork
for more investors: Bing
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

"Let us prepare the groundwork for more investors and set the foundation for economic growth and more jobs," Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday in his address during the inaugural ceremony of the incoming city officials at the Bacolod City Public Plaza.

He said advancing economic prosperity provides a good foundation for the difficult work of addressing the needs of society but it cannot by itself create a moral and cooperative society.

He asked the people to help him bring the basic services to the 61 barangays: from education to health and sanitation, potable water, peace and order, livelihood and skills' training and development. Leonardia said they have already started work on the three-point action plan they had presented during the elections which include the strengthening of the delivery of basic services through a proactive approach. moremoremore

Gov. Joseph Maraņon yesterday outlined nine priorities of his administration for the next three years ranging from the production of ethanol, putting Negros Occidental's organic food drive on the world map, creating an export processing zone and pushing major infrastructure projects to hasten economic growth.

"The bottom line of all these efforts is to further push economic prosperity in the countryside," the governor said in his State of the Province Address at the inaugural session of the Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan at the Capitol in Bacolod City. The governor said in the north the provincial government will support the bio-ethanol project of San Carlos City. moremoremore
