Local officials elected in the May 14 polls officially began their terms of office yesterday and will start their first day of work today.

At the Negros Occidental provincial Capitol, Gov. Joseph Marañon will deliver his state of the province address this afternoon, where he is expected to outline his goals for his last three years as governor.

Both Marañon and Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco are on their third and last terms at the Capitol.

The governor will deliver his speech before the Negros Occidental Sanggunaing Panlalawigan that will convene for the first time with its newly elected members.

The new board members are Nehemias dela Cruz Sr. (NPC-UNA) and Renato Gustilo (Lakas CMD) - first district, Miller Serondo (NPC-UNA) and Eduardo Acuña (NPC-UNA) - second district, Patrick Lacson (Lakas CMD) and Manuel Ko (NPC) - third district, Janet Torres (NPC) and Mae Javellana (NPC-UNA) - fourth district, Melvin Ibañez (KAMPI) and Emilio Yulo II (KAMPI) - fifth district, and Adolfo Mangao (Lakas CMD) and Macario Zafra Jr. (NPC) - sixth district.*CPG
