Rep. George Arnaiz (2nd District, Oriental Negros) led Saturday,
the inauguration and turnover of the two-storey Negros Oriental
Provincial Hospital Administration Building and the 17 newly-furnished
private rooms at the surgery department of the Negros Oriental Provincial
Hospital.
The construction of the NOPH Administration building started
in 2001 and was completed during his last term of office as governor
early this year. Arnaiz described the people of Oriental Negros
as "unique" compared to other provinces in the country. He said
there are people and private civic organizations in the province
who are willing to work with the provincial government, in order
to improve the services at the provincial hospital.
These include civic clubs, organizations and private individuals
who willingly donated some amounts for the improvement of the hospital
building.
Dr. Dante Domingo, chief of the Integrated Provincial Hospital,
said the province has a strong inter-sectoral cooperation among
the different government agencies.
The provincial government has allocated a P23 million budget
for the NOPH Administration building.
Meanwhile, Arnaiz also inaugurated the new three-storey school
building at the Negros Oriental High School that has 15 classrooms,
six toilets and a P15.5 million budget.*MA
