Raps filed vs. 3 guards
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Multiple frustrated murder charges were filed against three security guards in connection with the ambush of four agrarian reform beneficiaries in Hacienda Nabal, Brgy. Talaban, Himamaylan City, police chief Milko Lirazan said.

The respondents in the alleged attempt to kill four agrarian farmer beneficiaries of Hacienda Nabal in November last year, were identified yesterday by the police as Elmer Canon, Wilbert Espartero and Antonio Garcia, all members of the Tuguis Security Agency hired by the hacienda management.

The three security guards were tagged by the police as the suspects in the shooting of farmer beneficiaries Tomas Cordova, Francilita Sakital, Maria Luz Yulaon and Basilia Cordova on Nov. 17 in the hacienda.

Police investigations showed the four victims were accompanying a cargo truck loaded with harvested sugarcane, when the suspects opened fire at them

The agrarian reform conflict in Hacienda Nabal between the management and farmer beneficiaries also caught the police in the crossfire. Police records show that Lirazan and several Himamaylan policemen are facing charges before the Ombudsman, National Police Commission and the DAR Adjudication Board, in connection with the implementation of agrarian reform in the hacienda.

Other policemen facing administrative complaints in relation to agrarian reform conflicts are Senior Inspector Regidor Alvarado, former Hinigaran police chief, and Senior Supt. Ramon Carino, former director of the 6th Regional Mobile Group.*GPB
