TESDA to hold
career caravan

The Technical Educational and Skills Development Authority will hold the career caravan ladderized education program on Feb. 1 at the Macias Sports and Cultural Center in Dumaguete City.

The TESDA has urged third and fourth year high school students in Oriental Negros including parents of out-of-school youths, non-government and people's organizations, and local government units to join. Director-general Secretary Augusto Syjuco of TESDA will lead the caravan to present the Technical-Vocational Education and Training and the Ladderized Education Program.

The TESDA is expecting about 5,000 participants from the municipalities and cities in the province to participate.

The advocacy caravan is in response to the promotion of Executive Order 358 or Ladderized Education Program prioritizing the creation of six to 10 million jobs and the expansion of youth opportunities.

Meanwhile, François Bourguignon, senior vice-president for Development Economics and chief economist of the World Bank, who visited Manila recently hailed the "success" of the government's fiscal reforms even as he called for incorporating "equity and fairness" into development plans.

Bourguignon met with Finance Secretary Margarito Teves and expressed the World Bank's full support for the economic management of the Philippine government.*MA
