Siaton worker hacked

A 57-year-old man was hacked by his co-worker while they were cutting bamboo poles recently in Barangay Malabuhan, Siaton, Oriental Negros.

Vicente Virances, 57, married of the place, suffered a hack wound in the head and face inflicted by Melchor Pascual, alias "Jerry," 27, married of the same barangay, police investigation showed. Witnesses also told the police that the victim and his other co-worker were cutting a bamboo pole when suddenly, the suspect arrived in the site and without any provocation immediately hacked Virances.

Witnesses immediately brought Virances to the Siaton Hospital for treatment. The police captured Pascual and detained him at the police station for the filing of a criminal case.

Meanwhile, the Guihulngan Philippine National Police arrested Cielo Jambalos, 23, single, of Sitio Culo, Barangay Poblacion, for attempted rape.

The suspect has a standing warrant of arrest for the crime issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 64 Presiding Judge Mario Trinidad. The bailbond for Jambalos' temporary liberty was set at P120,000.

He is now detained at the Guihulngan police station pending the issuance of a commitment order by the court.

In Ayungon town the police apprehended Anacleto Langomes, 38, married, of Barangay Awa-an, by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Trinidad, for estafa.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Ayungon police station and will be turned over to Canlaon City police station because the crime was committed in the place.*RG
