79 cellphones found

The Bacolod police is appealing to the possible owner or owners of the 79 cellular phones recovered by a security guard beside a bank at Araneta Street, Bacolod City, Tuesday, to claim them at Police Station 1.

Police Station 1 commander Senior Insp. Joeresty Coronica yesterday said the cellphone claimants should present the serial number of the phone and a police blotter. He said he believes the cellphones were snatched from their owners because no pawnshop and cellphone company reported loss of the items.

On Wednesday, security guard Douglas Tonogbanua, 39, married, of the Veterans Phil-Scout Security Agency, endorsed a bag contained assorted cellphone units to Police Station 1. Tonogbanua said the bag also contained a woman's wallet, a sleeveless T-shirt and GI wiring.

Coronica said they conducted follow-up operation in the area, but they failed to find the possible owner of the bag. He said the cellular phones are now in the custody for proper disposition.*DMG
