Tipon upbeat over int'l stints
BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

Bacoleņo boxer Joan Tipon, one of only four Filipino gold medallists in the Asian Games, is upbeat over his chances in the twelve international tournaments lined up for the RP Team starting next month.

The lanky Tipon, who was born in Sitio Sibucao, Barangay Banago, yesterday said he believes the stint in the Asiad gave him a lot of experience that will be a crucial factor in his campaign internationally.

"I have gained a lot of experience with the victory in the Asian Games and I'm more confident right now each time I step into the ring," Tipon told the DAILY STAR in a telephone interview.

Lopue's secures win
No. 2; Brgy. 10 rolls

Lopue's Travel Center bagged its second win Wednesday night when it crushed Tangub Basketball Association, 86-68, for the early lead in the 7th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Basketball Tournament at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Andy Angudong proved to be a handful for TBA as he bullied his way to 17 points, while Te Espejo and Simon Guevarra also made solid contributions with 13 and 12 markers, respectively. Lopue's slowly but surely broke the game wide open in the second period with Angudong powering his way to easy baskets in the paint to give his squad a 43-24 lead, which they never relinquished.
