camp set in Mambukal

A career guidance camp called "Past Forward" on the theme "At the Crossroads - Past Forward '07 Intensified" will be held Feb. 23-25 at Mambukal Mountain Resort, Murcia town, Negros Occidental, a press release from organizers said yesterday.

The camp, held in collaboration of the yA, a young adults group in Bacolod City and the Cebu-based group 180O Professionals, aims at steering participants to a deeper level of understanding of where they are at present, it also said. It is a series of dynamic and nation-oriented 3-day, 2-night trainings designed for professionals, young entrepreneurs, government workforce, employers and employees, single or married, the press release said.

Participants this year will be from Cebu, Mindanao, Bohol, Negros Occidental, Dumaguete and Panay.

Speakers will be Dr. Roy Versoza, instructor of The Apollos Project; Rex Resurreccion, author of "Called to Excel" and president of the "Passion for Perfection"; corporate planning director Bach John Sebastian; and former TV host Cito Beltran.

The camp started in 2005 in Springpark Resort, Toledo City, Cebu. Its second edition was held at Hidden Valley Resort, Pinamungajan, Cebu.

GAD orientation held

The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 6 recently conducted an orientation on Gender and Development for its 50 employees in Molo, Iloilo City, a DSWD press release said.

Rebecca Geamala, officer-in-charge of the Technical Assistance Division of DSWD, attended the activity.

The orientation, facilitated by Social Welfare officer Delia Bagolcol, was aimed at clarifying that most notions about manhood and womanhood are socially constructed and maybe changed, among other gender issues. Modules discussed also include Sex and Gender, Gender Stereotyping, Economic Marginalization and Political Subordination. Participants also declared their commitment to help stop gender biases, the press release added.*

PNA induction set Jan. 29

The Philippine Nurses Association Negros Occidental Chapter will hold its induction of officers and board of directors 6 p.m. Jan. 29, at Circle Inn, Capitol Shopping Center, Bacolod City, a press release from the group said.

To be inducted are Gloregene Guanzon - president, Salustia Nobleza - vice president for Finance, Bethel Basinang - vice president for Program and Development, Merle Salvani - secretary, Cyrus Alcala - assistant secretary, Madeliene Rapiz - treasurer, Luz Hofileņa - assistant treasurer, Elvi Bajador - business manager, Marlene Salem - auditor, and Edna Garzon - public information officer.

Board of directors are Eunice Bedonia, Nelsie Guevarra and Mathilda Nombres, while composing its Commission on Elections are Manuelita Caņete, Susan Consolacion and Gemma Solatorio, the press release added.*
