PDEA offering bounty
to illegal drug informants

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency is offering rewards to any person who may provide information leading to the confiscation of shabu and marijuana.

PDEA regional director Rolen Balquin yesterday said the PDEA is offering a P75,000 reward for a kilo of shabu confiscated through a tip provided by informants, and P1,000 for every kilo of marijuana. Balquin said the cash rewards given to informants also depend on the quantity of drugs confiscated by PDEA.

The giving of cash rewards to informants form part of the PDEA's Operation Private Eye.

Balquin said PDEA regional and provincial offices have been tasked to neutralize the top 10 drug personalities and drug groups operating in their areas.

PDEA records show the existence of five local drug gangs in Region 6, two of which are operating in Bacolod City.

Balquin said PDEA is also focusing its efforts on reducing the drug demand, while sustaining their campaign against drug peddlers.*GPB
