Mondia wants Rapiz to head
Pulupandan police - Franco
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Senior Inspector Santiago Rapiz has been selected by Mayor Luis Mondia as the incoming police chief of Pulupandan, Negros Occidental.

Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, yesterday said he has already submitted the name of Rapiz to the Comelec, and will issue the order for him as incoming Pulupandan police chief after the Comelec approval.

The police is under Comelec control during the election period.

Rapiz, who was relieved as E.B. Magalona police chief on Jan. 13, said yesterday that he will assume command of the Pulupandan police as he receives an order. Mayor Alfonso Gamboa had earlier questioned Franco for his relief of Rapiz as E.B.Magalona police chief.

Rapiz is expected to replace Inspector Nestor Tuadles who had gone on a study leave in Cebu.

Pulupandan town, which has records of election-related violence in the late 1980's, is among the towns in Negros Occidental being closely watched by the Comelec and police because of intense political rivalries.*GPB
