IN BRGY. GRANADA
Robbery eyed in stabbing
of sexagenarian, grandson

A sexagenarian and her grandson were stabbed by a still unidentified man at their residence at Lot 7, Block 21, Phase 1, Charito Heights Subdivision, Brgy. Granada, Bacolod City at about 3:30 a.m. yesterday.

Now in critical condition are 60-year-old Dolores Abquilan and her 15-year-old grandson who both sustained multiple stab wounds and had been rushed by neighbors to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, police reports said. Abquilan and her grandson, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR, were later transferred to the Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital, Insp. Renato Ofamen, Police Station 5 commander yesterday said. She is now confined at the Intensive Care Unit.

Ofamen said the police could not get any information from the victims because of their situation. He said, however, that their initial investigation showed that the suspect had climbed over the fence to gain entrance.

Abquilan was preparing breakfast when the suspect broke into the kitchen and attacked her and the boy, Ofamen said. He said the victims managed to run out of their house and seek help from their neighbors.

He said there was no sign of forcible entry in the house and most of the valuable items of the victims were intact.

The police is eyeing attempted robbery or robbery as the motive.

He said they recovered a black T-shirt near the fence of the victim's residence. He said they have the identity of the suspect, but did not elaborate.*DMG
