Cop facing rape
raps AWOL

A Bacolod police officer accused of molesting the niece of his wife is considered Absent Without Official Leave, Bacolod City police deputy director Supt. Edgar Esparagoza said yesterday.

Esparagoza said SPO1 Mario Villafuerte of the city police operations branch, had not filed for official leave and has failed to report for duty since the warrant of arrest against him was released on Jan. 12. He said Acting Bacolod City police office director Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar has directed the Bacolod Warrant and Subpoena Section operatives to arrest Villafuerte who is now at-large.

Judge Philadelfa Agraviador, who issued the arrest warrant of Villafuerte has denied him bail.

Villafuerte was accused of raping the niece of his wife, Senior Insp. Ester Villafuerte, also a police officer, who filed the criminal complaint against him.

Senior Insp. Villafuerte is assigned at the Interval Affairs Services of the Philippine National Police that acts on complaints filed against policemen.

The alleged molestation of the victim started when she was still a minor but was only discovered by Senior Insp. Villafuerte when her niece reach legal age.*DMG
