The good life will
soften Manny Pacquiao
The good life will definitely cast a long shadow
on the boxing career of Manny Pacquiao. And the influence of Arum
on the naïve Pacman will start his downhill flight from greatness.
Making Manny renege on his seven-fight contract with De la Hoya's
Golden Boy after receiving advance money is not honorable. Yes,
the money was returned but the spirit of "buisit" will cling to
Manny in his fights. Personally, I believe Arum is too fast for
Manny.
The most bitter fight in the history of boxing was
between Hitler's Max Schmeling and America's African-American heavyweight
Joe Louis, the brown bomber.
Hitler was boasting that the superior race of his
represented by Max Schmeling will make mincemeat of America's inferior
representative, Joe Louis. All of America must have have prayed
so hard for Joe Louis and he was so agitated by Hitlers constant
insult to him that in the first round of their fight, he sent Max
Schmeling out of the ring by the force of his blows.
When the German fighter climbed back to the ring,
Joe Louis pummeled him with the full strength of his fists and sent
Germany's pride to the course cold as a stone. And Hitler became
silent as a peacock without feathers.
Manny has the distinction together with Joe Louis
of making his whole country stand still in his last fight with Morales.
He was also voted last year as the best fighter pound for pound
for that year. But of course the best fighter of all time pound
for pound was Sugar Ray Robinson. He was the most colorful fighter
I had ever seen. No one could come close, not even Ali.
What Manny Pacquiao had accomplished for
his country is God's gift to him because of his faith, humility,
and having a good heart. I hope he stays that way the rest of his
life.
