3 Bacoleņos nabbed
for motorcycle theft
The Bacolod police yesterday arrested three Bacolod
residents for allegedly stealing two motorcycles in Purok Boulevard,
Brgy. 16, Bacolod City, Saturday.
Arrested were Michael Garcia Bayot, 22, alias
"Pidoy", of Purok Laurel, Brgy. Mansilingan; Alfie Semillano Amar,
alias "Ba-ak" and Maximo Canama Jr., 18, alias "Mok-mok", both of
Purok Boulevard, Brgy. 16, all in Bacolod City, police reports said.
One of the complainants Jovito Tronggo, of Purok
Katilingban, Brgy. Banago told the police the suspects waylaid him
and forcibly took his motorcycle, police reports said.
In an interview with the DAILY STAR, Canama denied
involvement in the crime, saying he and his companions only borrowed
the motorcycle from a friend and he did not know they were stolen.
Senior Insp. Joeresty Coronica, Police Station
1 commander, yesterday said police records show Canama has two pending
charges before the Bacolod City Prosecutor's Office and has been
identified as one of the four persons who stabbed to death a tricycle
driver at the Bacolod reclamation area on Nov. 13, 2006.
Coronica said Canama was also one of the suspects
who held up a trisikad passenger in front of an elementary school
at Rosario Street, Brgy. 14 Bacolod on Nov. 21, 2005. He said Canama,
Amar and Bayot will be presented at the office of acting Bacolod
police director Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar today.*DMG

stabbed after altercation
A resident of E.B. Magalona town reportedly stabbed
Ernesto Layron Gale, of Purok Radabilla, Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod
City, at Burgos-Hilado Streets, at about 4 p.m. Friday, during an
altercation, police reports said.
Gale was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano
Memorial Regional Hospital with stab wounds on his left shoulder
and the right side of his hip, allegedly inflicted by Albert Nalagon,
of E.B Magalona town, police reports said. Reports said Nalagon
stabbed Gale when he refused to give him P10.
Joseph Hosalia de Oro, of Purok Kamunsil, Brgy.
Bata, Bacolod City was also rushed to the CLMMRH with head injuries
allegedly inflicted by Efren Baylosis Javier, in front of a bar
at 21st Street, Bacolod City, at about 3 a.m. Saturday, police reports
said.
Javier hit de Oro with an unidentified object when
they engaged in an argument, which resulted in a commotion, police
reports said. Javier, of Purok Magnolia, Brgy. 7, is now detained
in the lock-up cell of Police Station 2, while de Oro is still confined
at the CLMMRH, police reports also said.*DMG

Establishment
in city robbed
Unidentified persons broke into a Bacolod establishment
at 11th-Lacson streets, Bacolod City and took several valuables,
including a laptop computer at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
Ma Valli Silva, branch manager of the Wide Wide
World Express Corp. - DHL Express told the police the suspect destroyed
the padlock of the door to gain entrance. She said the suspect forced
the safety vault open with a crow bar and took an undetermined amount
of cash and checks.
The suspects also took the Laptop HP Pentium 4
worth P50,000 and a bag.
At 5:30 p.m. of the same day, Dolores Tawag Barbas,
60, turned over the bag to Police Station 2, which she claimed was
found by jeepney driver Ian Gantalao, 25, in Brgy. Singcang-Airport,
Bacolod City, police reports said.
The bag contained three safety cash boxes with
checks and assorted documents, police reports said.
Meanwhile, Enrique Albay Chua, 46, married, of Don
Antonio Street, Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City reported to Police
Station 2 that unidentified persons also broke into his fruit store
at B.S. Aquino Drive, Capitol Shopping Center at about 9:30 p.m.
Friday. Chua said the suspects destroyed the sliding window of the
store and stole his digital weighing scale and a box of apples worth
P5,000, police reports said.*DMG
