Pay Pag-IBIG contributions,
unregistered employers told

The Pag-IBIG Fund Bacolod Branch called on unregistered employers in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental anew to register with Pag-IBIG in compliance with Republic Act 7742.

Data of its Marketing and Enforcement Division show that as of late last year, more than 3,000 local business establishments have remained unregistered with Pag-IBIG. Division head Wilmer Lirazan told the DAILY STAR that they offer reprieve or penalty condonation to the unregistered employers provided that they register and pay their contributions from the start of their operations.

The law on Mandatory Pag-IBIG Membership requires that both the employer and the employee pay two percent of the employee's monthly income as his/her Pag-IBIG contribution.

Negros del Norte
sugar output up 13%

The Negros del Norte Planters Association posted an increase of 13 percent in sugar production in crop year 2005-2006, the association said in a press release.

Its reelected president, Arsenio Acuņa, said at their general assembly held at the Victorias Milling Company Golf Club Saturday that their members' sugar output rose to 370,000 metric tons from the previous year's only 3,265,228 metric tons, but the highest cane volume delivered to the VMC. Acuņa said the total sugar output could have been higher if not for the decrease in sugar yield per ton of cane.

The 2006 yield was only 1.99 Lkg per ton compared to the past year's 2.11 Lkg.
