Guns seized from
businessman
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and 612nd Provincial Mobile Group simultaneously raided yesterday the house and cock farm of a businessman in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, and seized unlicensed guns and assorted ammunition.

Armed with two search warrants issued by Judge Rolando Ramirez, CIDG and 612nd PMG troopers led by Supt. Khasmir Disomangcop swooped down on the house and cock farm of businessman Bonifacio Medina at San Eusebio Subdivision in Cadiz City.

Disomangcop said a .40 caliber pistol with three magazines and 25 assorted ammunition were recovered from the house of Medina, which is allegedly a "tambayan (hang-out)" of persons suspected to be engaged in gunrunning activities. The Dublin 12-gauge-shotgun and Smith and Wesson .357 caliber revolver, on the other hand, were seized from cock farm of Medina.

Disomangcop said Medina failed to present documents allowing him to possess the firearms.

Medina, however, claimed the documents for the ownership of firearms that he had bought, were still being processed.

Disomangcop said charges for illegal possession of firearms will be filed against Medina, who is now locked up in jail at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.

Two weeks ago, businessman Francisco Nazareno and his son, Jocko, were also arrested for illegal possession of firearms but later freed from jail after posting bail of P100,000 each.

The raid at the house of Nazareno in Brgy. 5, Moises Padilla, had yielded eight guns of assorted calibers and hundreds of ammunition.*GPB
