Piccio finishes eleventh in
RP Ladies Amateurs

Bacolod ace Mia Piccio shot a 79 yesterday and settled for 11th place in the ICTSI-Philippine Ladies Amateur championship at The Country Club in Laguna.

A day after shooting a 71 that kept her in contention, the 15-year-old Piccio was unable to perfectly read the greens in a round marred by two double bogeys against a lone birdie on the par 5 14th hole.

Piccio, who missed two birdie putts inside five feet yesterday, tallied a three-round total of 223, two shots behind 10th placer Thidpa Suwannapura, who submitted a 76 for a 221 aggregate.

Thai Yupaporn Kawinpakorn, who tied a course record 66 in the second round, kept her poise yesterday, shooting a 73 that proved enough to win the crown.

She fended off the challenge of Indonesia's Ivana Jaya, who carded a 69 to nail second place, beating Malaysia's Abu Bakar Johani by two shots.

Filipino-American Cristina Corpus, who finished in the top 10 at Manila Golf last year, was the best Filipino finisher with a 216 total, following her 75 yesterday, while Asian Games veteran Dottie Ardina carded another 73 to come in sixth, just seven shots off Kawinpakorn.*CPT
