A concert by the Apo Hiking Society called "Aaahh!"
or "Apo, Aliyah, Asenso, Heart to Heart," with special guest Aliya
Parcs will be held 8 p.m. Feb. 3 at the University of St. La Salle
Coliseum, Bacolod City, a press release from organizers said.
The group composed of Jim Paredes, Danny Javier
and Boboy Garovillo will stage the concert in celebration of the
Month of Hearts and for the benefit of the Asenso Village in Isabela
town, Negros Occidental, which aims to provide houses to 500 indigent
families.
Apo Hiking Society, formerly known as the Apolinario
Mabini Hiking Society started its career in the 1970s at Ateneo
University. The group has traveled around the world for international
shows and concerts.
It has maintained its unique brand of music over
the years and still captures the affection of foreigners and local
followers, the press release said.

Film
tour to
visit Negros schools
Award-winning documentary films by Marie Boti and
Malcolm Guy will be shown in schools and other venues in Bacolod
City and Negros Occidental today until Monday, a press release from
Migrante-Negros said.
The Canadian filmmakers who are on a nationwide
film tour will be at the Liga Journalista-CIRMS office at Libertad,
from 9:30 to 12 a.m. to show "Modern Heroes or Slaves," "Brown Women,
Blond Babes," among their other works.
At 1 to 4 p.m. tomorrow, they will be at the Sugar
Workers Livelihood Center at Cottage Road, Bacolod to present "When
Strangers Re-unite," "Turbulent Waters," "Melca Salvador Story,"
"Modern Heroes or Slaves," and "Brown Women, Blond Babes," the press
release said.
On Monday, they will be at Carlos Hilado Memorial
State College, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, 8 to 9:30 a.m.;
University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos - 10 to 11:30 a.m.; and
Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall - 1 to 5 p.m. Yesterday, they
were at Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod.
The film tour about migrant workers and labor export
is supported by Gabriela, City Sectoral Concerns Office, Gender
and Development Council of Bacolod City, and the Bacolod Overseas
Filipino Workers Association Inc., the press release added.*
