BACIWA offers solutions
to Brgy. Felisa residents

The Bacolod City Water District has offered solutions to the water shortage problem raised by residents of Bangga Totong in Brgy. Felisa (not Estefania), its operations head Samuel Penado said yesterday.

Penado said BACIWA engineers met with Kalubkob Community Association Inc. president, Segismundo Hiponia, during their inspection yesterday and told him the residents can avail of disturbance compensation if they will opt to apply for water supply connection.

He told the DAILY STAR that the compensation is part of the conditions set by the city government when it lifted the cease-and-desist on the operations of BACIWA's Well Nos. 7 and 8. But Penado said that they will still provide assistance to those who will choose to have their hand pumps repaired as what they did in Brgy. Handumanan.

Residents who will apply for installation can be pay the fees within a year, he said.

Penado said Hiponia told the BACIWA personnel, he will present the proposed alternatives to the residents of Bangga Totong. In Brgy. Handumanan, he said, BACIWA spent about P200,000 for the repair of the handpumps.

Out of the more than 300 residents who were affected by the water shortage, only 57 went for repairs while the rest applied for BACIWA connections.

BACIWA Well Nos. 7 and 8 serves consumers in Brgys. Felisa (Bangga Totong), Handumanan, Sum-ag, Pahanocoy and a portion of Tangub.*NLG
