Ponteras, Lacson,
8 others join UNA

EB Magalona Vice Mayor David Lacson and Former Bacolod police chief, Vicente Ponteras, and eight others took their oaths as members of the United Negros Alliance yesterday afternoon, Gov. Joseph Maraņon said yesterday.

Lacson said he is weighing the possibility of running for mayor of EB Magalona against incumbent Alfonso Gamboa.

Ponteras, on the other hand, had earlier announced his intention to run for mayor of Bacolod.

But Maraņon said that, as a member of UNA, Ponteras "should follow the party rules, he can slide down, he can decide not to run."

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia is a member of the Nationalist People's Coalition that is allied with UNA, which has a policy that grants equity to the incumbent.

The others who took their oaths as members of UNA before the president of the alliance, Alfredo Maraņon, at the Cavern Restaurant in Bacolod City were EB Magalona councilors Allan Villaruz, Noel Resuma, Anton Magalona, Nilo Japitana, Edmer Agravante and Eduardo Malacanon, and Roberto Acaling and Loreto Dilag.*CPG
