Bacolod City is part of the itinerary of the Philippine Fuel Ethanol
Alliance caravan next month aimed to raise awareness on the use
of biofuels.
The Ethanol Alliance, a coalition promoting energy independence
by supporting local biofuels production and use, said in a press
release it will hold the Biofuels Caravan from February 4 to 13
together with the Independent Philippine Petroleum Companies Association
and Coalition of Clean Cities in the Philippines. The activity,
which will also celebrate the signing of the Biofuels Act of 2006
into law on January 17, will showcase vehicles running on ethanol-blended
gasoline and coco-diesel additive starting from Northern Luzon.
The Biofuels Caravan will pass by Tarlac, Lipa City, Batangas
City, Iloilo City, Bacolod City, Cebu City, Cagayan de Oro City,
Malaybalay in Bukidnon, and Davao City, the press release said.
Aside from holding city-wide motorcades, the organizers
will also hold public forums. The Ethanol Alliance said that since
the Biofuels Act will be implemented soon, motorists need to be
informed about the biofuel technology and its benefits to vehicle
performance and to the environment.
It added that most cars are fully compatible with up to 10 percent
ethanol in the mixture and at present, major automobile manufacturers
recommend the use of fuels containing as much as 10 percent ethanol
by volume and have full warranty on its use in all of their vehicles,
the press release added.*
