Police raid house
of brgy captain

Intelligence operatives of the Negros Occidental police yesterday raided the house of a barangay captain in Himamaylan City who allegedly possessed unlicensed firearms.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Roberto Chiongson, a team of NOPPO intelligence operatives led by Inspector Robert Dejucos swooped down on the house of Brgy. Capt. Gerardo Titular in Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City.

The raid at the house of Titular yielded an Armscor caliber .45 pistol with 48 rounds of ammunition, 61 empty shells and three gun holsters, but, the gun turned out to be licensed, police investigations show. Supt. Milko Lirazan, Himamaylan police chief, said Titular, alias Pirot, was released shortly before noon yesterday.

The raid took place almost two weeks after operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group also raided the residence of a businessman who is running for mayor in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.

Lirazan said he received reports that Titular was the subject of complaints from some barangay residents who claimed to have been threatened with a gun allegedly by the village chairman.*GPB.
