Vice Governor Jose Baldado said he welcomes the resolution making
Manjuyod town a pilot area for a blood donation program by the Philippine
Nation Red Cross in Oriental Negros.
He said the problem of negative perception about blood donations
should be addressed since this is why many are afraid of donating
blood. Some have been made to believe that donating blood is bad
for the health and can cause death.
Baldado said the program had been implemented in Manjuyod
during his term as mayor and he wanted to revive it.
Under the program, every barangay in the town should have a
complete list of the residents' blood type.
Aside from this there should also be volunteers who are willing
and healthy to donate blood at any time.
Baldado said he entered into an agreement with the local Red
Cross chapter to conduct information and education drive on the
benefits of blood donation.
The program will be implemented as barangay-based and Baldado
encouraged officials to support it.
Board Member Arturo Umbac, in a provincial resolution, endorsed
Manjuyod town as the pilot area for the implementation of the blood
donation program of Negros Oriental.*MA
