Witness in brgy
captain's slay missing

One of the eyewitnesses in the killing of a Silay barangay captain at fish port in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City, is now missing, case investigator SPO3 Carmelo Nermal said yesterday.

Nermal said they have not yet secured the affidavits of witnesses, to be utilized in the filing of murder charges against Emiliano Saballa Paes Jr. for the killing of Barangay Captain Victor Diamante.

He said a trisikad driver who had claimed that he saw how Paes shot Diamante dead, could no longer be found at his residence.

Nermal said they are also having a difficult time persuading other persons who were in the area to testify in the case.

He said they could not file the case before the City Prosecutor's Office until they have substantial evidences against Paes.

He said Diamante's driver claimed he could not testify because he was in the car when the incident occurred.

Diamante, who succumbed to a gunshot wound on his nape, was declared dead on arrival at the Riverside Medical Center.*DMG
