Former Region 6 police director Geary Barias also assumed command
of the police task forces on anti-illegal drugs and anti-illegal
gambling nationwide, after his transfer from Western Visayas to
Camp Crame on Jan. 2, police records show.
Barias, former provincial director of Negros Occidental, is
also the acting Director for Investigation and Detective Management,
one of the 10 PNP Directorial Staff positions that supervises PNP
units and offices with investigative functions.
Acting DIDM chief, Barias is also concurrent commander of
Anti-Ilegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force and Anti-Illegal
Gambling Special Operations Task Force.
He replaced as DIDM director, newly-promoted Police Director
Edgardo Doromal, who was also designated director of the Criminal
Investigation and Detection Group.
Calderon ordered Barias to continue the programs of Doromal
and coordinate all anti-drug operations with the Philippine Drug
Enforcement Agency as part of the procedure and inter-agency protocol.
Two more former Constabulary officers assigned in Negros Occidental
have been designated as provincial police directors of Masbate and
Mountain Province.
Senior Supt. Victor Deona, former commander of the defunct
331st and 334th Mobile Force Company, was named as the Masbate provincial
police director.
Senior Supt. Rogelio Damazo, former executive officer of the defunct
331st PC Company, has been also named provincial police director
of Mountain Province, police records also showed. ` Deona, Damazo
and Senior Supt. Benigno Duran, newly-installed Aklan provincial
police director, were among the 24 provincial and city directors
re-assigned, in line with the May 14 synchronized elections.*GPB
