Suspect in slay of brgy head
from Silay still at large: PNP

The Bacolod police is still facing a blank wall on the whereabouts of the prime suspect in the killing of a Silay barangay captain who was shot dead at the fish port in Purok Sibucao, Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City, at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Barangay Captain Victor Diamante was killed, allegedly by Emiliano Saballa Paes Jr., after a heated argument.

Acting Bacolod City police director, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, yesterday said Senior Insp. Leonardo Borromeo is filing murder charges against Paes, who is still at-large. The police is eyeing a personal grudge as the motive of the shooting, Quebrar said.

Borromeo said they are preparing the affidavits of witnesses and evidence for the filing of the charges before the City Prosecutor's Office this week.

Diamante, who succumbed to a gunshot wound on his nape, was declared dead on arrival at the Riverside Medical Center.*DMG
