Teachers, schools honored

Bago City Schools Superintendent Mildred Garay and other officials gave awards to 29 outstanding teachers, 11 high performing schools and 7 stakeholders for their pursuit of educational excellence, during the Annual Harvest of Excellence at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center in Bago City recently.

The search is an annual division wide recognition program to schools and exemplary teachers who have made outstanding contributions to the teaching profession, a DepEd press release said. Of the 29 awardees, 23 came from the elementary level and six from the secondary.

Awardees for best performing elementary and secondary schools were Bago City Elementary School, J.L. Araneta Elementary School, A.M. Espinos Elementary School, Dr. A. Sian Elementary School, Ramon Torres National High School, RT Louisiana National High School and RT Sagasa National High School.

Bago City Elementary School and Ramon Torres National High School were awarded as the Most Outstanding PESS Implementers and Ma-ao Sugar Central Elementary School, Vidal Cauntoy Elementary School and T. Morada Elementary School were given recognition as the Most Environment Friendly Schools.

Each awardee received a plaque of recognition and a cash prize.*

La Carlota college
gets recognition

La Carlota City College in La Carlota City recently received a Certificate of Recognition from the Professional Regulation Commission and the Board of Midwifery for placing third in the November 2006 Midwife Licensure Examination with 91 percent of its examinees passing, a press release from school officials, said.

The awarding ceremony was held at the Centennial Hall of Manila Hotel and LCCC's award was received by the school's officer-incharge and dean of instruction Lydia Peņafiel, and administrative officer Fatima Bullos, the press release said. LCCC's board of trustees is chaired by Mayor Jeffrey Ferrer of La Carlota City.*
