4 suspected drug
peddlers nabbed
BY RENE GENOVE

Four suspected peddlers of illegal drugs were apprehended separately by Task Force 24 in Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City, last week.

Suspect Dionie Chiu, 34, single and a resident of Brgy. Piapi, was caught yesterday with three sachets containing illegal substance known as shabu in his possession. Chiu strongly denied selling shabu but admitted that he had been asked to bring the drugs to somebody.

In another raid by TF 24 in barangay Looc, Cecile Viliran, 26 years old, single with two children, resident of Brgy. Looc was also caught with a sachet of suspected shabu in her possession.

Viliran said the drug does not belong to her and she only found it in the pavement where it was thrown by an unidentified woman. But the police said she had been monitored for some time now.

In fact her live-in partner, Julio Manaba, was apprehended in December last year.

Meanwhile, two other suspects from Bacong and Valencia were intercepted by the Maritime Police negotiating for the price of shabu per sachet.

The suspects were identified as Harold Dumen, 24 years old, single of South Poblacion Valencia, and a certain Analyn Morados, 32, single, of West Poblacion Bacong. Dumen admitted he was asked to sell shabu for a certain amount but he refused to identify his supplier. Morados strongly denied any involvement and said she has nothing to do with the alleged drug deal. But she admitted that she received the sachets from Dumen.

Dumen was caught with a sachet of suspected shabu while Morados was caught in possession of four sachets of the same substance in an empty cigaret pack.

The police charged the four suspects for violation of Section 5 and 11 of Article II, Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*RG
