2 energy sector
meetings for Visayas set

Two energy-sector related meetings will be conducted for Visayas consumers and stakeholders in Cebu City this week.

The National Transmission Corp. will hold a roadshow on its Customer Advocacy Program to disseminate information on the revised Open Access Transmission Service Rules on January 17 while the Energy Regulatory Commission will hold a public consultation on the first draft of the "Issues Paper on Proposed Alternative Regulatory Framework for the Electric Cooperatives" on January 18, at the Eduardo Aboitiz Development Studies Center, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

TransCo, whose OATS Rules was approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission on Dec. 13, 2006, aims to inform and update all its customers and stakeholders on the rules and regulations of transmission services that will be implemented starting the January billing month.

The revised OATS Rules take into consideration the restructured industry setting brought about by the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market and the Excluded Services, including residual, ancillary, and technical services.

The roadshow will be attended by technical representatives of TransCo's customers and stakeholders which include independent power producers, electric cooperatives, private distribution utilities and directly-connected industries.

The ERC, for its part, before holding a consultation this week asked interested parties to submit their comments.*NLG
