Samie Lim, considered "Father of Franchising in the Philippines,"
has been elected the new president of the Philippine Chamber of
Commerce and Industry, a press release from PCCI said.
Lim, the founding president and chairman emeritus of the Philippine
Franchise Association, succeeded Ambassador Donald Dee, who is now
chairman of the Board of Directors.
Also the chairman emeritus of the Philippine Retailers Association,
Lim is currently the president of Automatic Center and chairman
of both Colins International Trading Corp., and Fiber City, Inc.,
the press release said.
Lim worked with the private sector for more than three decades
but has served as trade and industry undersecretary and general
manager of the National Development Company in 1999.
Other PCCI officials are: Miguel Varela, chairman emeritus; Sergio
Ortiz-Luis Jr., honorary chairman; Xavier Aboitiz, Jose Alejandro,
William Co, Eric Cruz, Francis Ferrer, Francisco Floro, Raul Hernandez,
Eduardo Ong, Edgardo Lacson, Antonio Lopa, George Siy, Jimmy Tang,
Alfredo Yao and Angelito Colona, Marcus Romera, Renato Simbulan,
Jose Ng, and Estrellita Juliano-Tamano, the press release added.*
