Pecache transferred
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Philip Pecache, chief of the National Bureau of Investigation in Bacolod City, will be transferred to the NBI Central Office in Metro Manila today.

Pecache who served as Bacolod NBI chief for about one year and six months, said yesterday that he will be replaced by Mamerto Cortez.

Pecache said the reshuffling among NBI officers occupying sensitive positions nationwide, was triggered by the retirement of their three deputy directors. He admitted, though, that he was the one who had sought transfer for family reasons.

He described his stint in Negros Occidental as "very exciting and lively", but did not elaborate.

Pecache advised his successor to "keep up your posture and just do your job." He added that he took as a challenge the criticisms against his leadership as NBI chief of Bacolod.

During his assignment in the province, Pecache had worked for a permanent home for the Bacolod NBI office. The national government has appropriated P10 million for the construction of the NBI headquarters in Bacolod City, on a lot donated by the provincial government of Negros Occidental.*GPB
