Himamaylan gets
Hall of Justice
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

After 26 years of waiting, Himamaylan City finally has a new Hall of Justice building.

Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez and Supreme Court Administrator Zenaida Elepaņo yesterday led the inauguration and blessing of the Himamaylan Hall of Justice.

Mayor Carmenia Bascon said the two-storey building in Brgy. Saraet, Himamaylan City, that was started on April 19, 2005, is now ready for use. Bascon added that the Hall of Justice was funded under the President's Justice System Infrastructure Program, through the efforts of Rep. Ignacio Arroyo and Gonzalez.

The inauguration was also attended by Negros Occidental judges and government prosecutors, Vice Governor Isidro Zayco, Aida Maraņon, wife of Governor Joseph Maraņon, Leonard Matti, Local Water Utilization Administration chief who represented Rep. Arroyo. among others.

Gonzalez said they are scraping to the bottom of the barrel in searching for funds for the construction of Hall of Justice buildings, adding that not a single centavo has been allocated for them in the 2006 budget.

In the Bicol region, Gonzales said, court hearings were suspended for two months as the regional and municipal trial court houses were destroyed by the recent typhoon.

On the other hand, Elepano yesterday called on judges and prosecutors to give importance to every case forwarded to their respective offices.*GPB
