The Land Transportation Office in Dumaguete had the highest increase
of collection in 2006 while Region 7 overshot 2006's collection
by almost 7 percent.
The statement was issued by LTO regional director Alex Leyson
as he acknowledged the efforts of LTO offices in the entire region.
The LTO official said Dumaguete had the highest increase of 12 percent
compared to their 2006 performance.
Last year, the local LTO office collected P59,876,357, Dumaguete
Chief Ely Cabanag said.
Cabanag attributed the increased collection to enforcement
of LTO rules and regulations, and from registration and licensing
fees. Leyson said LTO is strictly enforcing laws on the no plate-no
travel policy, and anti-carnapping in coordination with the Traffic
Management Group.
The LTO is investigating situations where one vehicle is registered
to two names, but with the computerization program, legitimate owners
can be traced.
Leyson was in Dumaguete to monitor the progress of the computerization
program of the Bayawan City LTO.*JG
