Roach mulling Philippine
training for Pacquiao

World-renowned American trainer Freddie Roach is planning to train Filipino boxing Manny Pacquiao in the country as a build-up for his proposed bout in Macau in April.

Roach, who planed into Manila late Tuesday night, said in the website www.mannypacquiao.ph that he is searching for a suitable gym to train the southpaw Pacquiao, an adopted son of Bacolod City.

The 28-year-old Pacquiao has been named by The Ring, considered as boxing's most influential magazine, as the 2006 Boxer of the year after scoring two impressive victories against Mexican legend Erik Morales, both coming by way of knockout, and Oscar Larios.

Pacquiao, who hails from General Santos, is currently in the midst of a court battle between promoters Golden Boy and Top Rank for the promotional rights of the Filipino pug. *CIT
