Raps readied vs. couple
for househelpers 'abuse'

The Bacolod police is preparing to file physical injuries and child abuse charges against the couple who reportedly mauled their two housemaids in Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City, Tuesday.

SPO4 Nemia Cuzon, head of the Bacolod Women and Children Concern's Desk, yesterday said they are waiting for the results of the medical examinations conducted on the complainants before filing the charges for physical injuries and violation of Republic Act 7610, or Child Abuse against their employers, whose name are being withheld by the police.

Cuzon said the 20-year-old complainant is now in the custody of the Department of Social Services and Development, while the 15-year-old girl has been turned over to her parents.

She said the complainants claimed they escaped from their employers because they could not stand the beatings. They claimed their employers boxed and kicked them if they failed to do their chores properly. The 20-year-old girl sustained hematomas on her arm and shoulder, while the 15-year-old girl had to undergo an X-ray examination because bloodstains were seen in her vomit, Cuzon said.*DMG
