Maxino College to open

The city of Dumaguete has lived up to its name as a university town, with the sprouting of educational institutions, the last of which is set to open in June 2007.

Founded and put up by the Maxino family, the Maxino College, located in Barangay Bagacay, Dumaguete City is the latest addition to the colleges and universities in the city.

Its founder and president Dr. Gerardo Maxino said he considers Maxino College as a community of caring scholars inspired by the Roman Catholic faith, in the service of the people.

Maxino College was organized not only to earn money but most importantly in order to serve and provide excellent formal education to poor but deserving students, he said.

Courses offered include Bachelor of Computer Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Physics, and Bachelor of Arts major in Political Science.

Full scholarship on tuition and miscellaneous fees are given to valedictorians, salutatorians, and first honorable mention graduates. Other honor graduates are entitled to full scholarship on tuition fees only.

The Maxino College is beefed up by faculty members, most of whom are honor graduates in elementary, high school, and college.

Among them are Dr Vicenta Maxino, Dr Imelda Flores, Dr. Cora King, Dr Joy Reynes, Vicente Maxino, Atty. Mars Maxino, Theresa Maxino, Clare Maxino, Catherine Maxino Cruz, Robert Ryan Cruz, Jonathan Tse, Hospicia Maxino Sy, Remedios Maxino, Ivy Maxino Bartolome, Linus Maxino, Grotius Wilbur Maxino, Gemma Maxino Torres and Portia Dacalos.

Also invited to join the faculty are Dr. Hope Maxino Bandal, Dr. Thelma Maxino Bueno, and Mikhail Maxino.*JG
