The Lopue's Table Tennis Association is offering its facilities
to the Western Visayas Regional Athletics Association Meet from
Feb. 11-16 in Bacolod City.
LOPTTA press relation officer Johnard Baldonado yesterday
said the association is willing to lend the venue for free to the
Department of Education during the school-based meet.
The Negros Occidental DepEd, headed by Divisions School Supt.
Eva Belicena, said that it is still taking into consideration LOPTTA's
offer even if the table tennis hostilities have initially been set
at the Panaad grounds. LOPTTA is offering its facilities because
the grassroots development program is a part of the association's
priorities and we want the student-athletes to play in world-class
tables, Baldonado said.
The 2006 Palarong Panlalawigan table tennis competition was
played at the Panaad grounds with Area IV paddlers bringing home
the elementary and secondary girls' titles, while Areas V and VII
ruled the elementary and secondary boys' divisions, respectively.
Meanwhile, DepEd regional director Victoriano Tirol Jr. will
meet with Gov. Joseph Maraņon today to inform him of the preparations
for the hosting of the regional meet by the province.
Belicena said Tirol will also discuss the possible assistance
from the Provincial Government for the regional Palaro hosting.
The different Physical Education and School Sports supervisors
have also met with Dr. Eden Deriada, regional PESS supervisor, to
inspect the playing venues with majority of the events set at Panaad.
The working committees also meet at the Negros Occidental Teacher's
Federation Center to segregate their tasks for the staging of the
annual hostilities.*CIT
