6 police
chiefs in Neg. Occ.
to be affected by reshuffling
Director General Oscar Calderon has debunked reports
that the reorganization of senior police officials occupying key
positions in the Philippine National Police, including Chief Supt.
Geary Barias, has something to do with the May 14 synchronized elections.
Calderon said in a statement, that the latest
reorganization of PNP officials was triggered by the retirement
of Deputy Director General Isidro Lapena, former Deputy Chief for
Operations.
Chief Supt. Wilfredo Dulay is taking over the
helm of the Police Regional Office 6 effective today, replacing
Barias, who assumed the position of acting Director for Investigation
and Detective Management on Wednesday at Camp Crame.
Calderon said the reorganization was recommended
by Senior Officers Placement and Promotion Board chaired by Deputy
Director General Avelino Razon, Deputy Chief for Administration.
Dulay is expected to be installed today as PRO 6 director by Calderon
at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.
The four other senior police officers occupying
new positions are Deputy Director General Antonio Billones - Deputy
Chief for Operation, Director Jesus Verzosa - acting Chief of Directorial
Staff, Chief Supt. Edgardo Doromal - acting director, Criminal Investigation
and Detection Group and Senior Supt. Mario San Diego - officer-in-charge,
Legal Service. Chief Supt. Ricardo Padilla also took over the Police
Regional Office 5 command from Chief Supt. Victor Boco who retired
from the police service.
The transfer of Barias to Camp Crame
is also in anticipation of his promotion to Police Director, which
is equivalent to major general in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.*GPB
