DEBTS KEEP DLNHS OUT OF WORLD TILT

Softball, however, was once again hounded by controversy after Domingo Lacson National High School, which was supposed to see action in the Senior League event in Lower Sussex, Delaware, was denied its trip to the United States after failing to settle its arrears with local travel agency, Jaunts and Journeys, and the non-arrival of the P1.2 million aid from WS organizer Williamsport.

Frederick Pe, owner of Jaunts and Journeys, said he will file a case against the DLNHS officials for breaching their agreement to settle the P273,000 account incurred during their 2005 Junior League WS campaign in Kirkland, Washington before they decided to leave for abroad and another P100,000 for processing their visas.

DLNHS, coached by Hernando "Kulafu" Posadas, earned the privilege of having Williamsport supposed to be shouldering all of its fare expenses by besting Indonesia and Guam in the Asia-Pacific Girls' Softball Tournament in Manila in June.

It was the second straight year that a Bacolod-based team waived its slot in the Senior League hostilities, after PVNHS failed to compete in 2005 due to lack of funds. PVNHS team officials, however, pushed through with their US trip and left behind most of the members of the team, saying they wanted to raise funds for the team there. Of the six officials who left, including controversial coach Reynaldo "Guy" Fuentes, only PVNHS principal Ben Barredo has returned to the country.
