The Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Oriental Negros is
opposing the P125 legislated wage increase approved recently by
the House of Representatives.
Chapter president Alex Sy said that if this is implemented,
many of its members will be forced to reduce their labor force,
or even close shop, which will prejudice permanent workers and those
applying for jobs. He said the local chamber will send its petition
to the national federation vehemently opposing the wage increase.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards all over
the country have been tasked to recommend wage hikes in consultation
with management, labor, and the business sectors.*JG
