Lacson still expects
to be official bet
BY CARLA GOMEZ

San Carlos Mayor Eugenio Lacson yesterday said he is still expecting the Nationalist People's Coalition to name him its official candidate based on the equity of the incumbent.

Lacson, who is running for re-election, is supporting the congressional bid of former Rep. Julio Ledesma who is not the official candidate of the NPC.

Rep. Tranquilino Carmona, the official candidate of the NPC, on the other hand, is supporting the mayoralty bid of Board Member Elmero Layumas of the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino.

Gov. Joseph Maraņon, head of the NPC in Negros, said San Carlos may be declared a free zone.

Lacson said his understanding of a free zone in San Carlos City during the May elections is that Maraņon in his personal capacity will not endorse any mayoralty candidate considering that both aspirants are his supporters. "I am still expecting to be endorsed by the NPC as its official candidate, based on the equity of the incumbent. BM Layumas can run as the official candidate of KAMPI, as manifested by Congressman Carmona. This is a win-win solution," Lacson said.*CPG
