'Some 3rd district areas
may be free zones'
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Rep. Jose Carlos Lacson said there could be free zones in certain areas of the third district of Negros Occidental during the May elections.

"But I don't want to talk about it now because we will find out once the filing of the certificates of candidacies are done," he said. Lacson is a member of Lakas, while the incumbent mayors of his district have joined the party of President Gloria Arroyo, the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino.

Lakas and KMP have an alliance on the national level. I would like to presume that if there are some problems between KAMPI and Lakas in the third district there is going to be an arbitration committee, he said.

He said the coalition between the two parties does not necessarily mean that he will not support candidates running against incumbent mayors.

Lacson is supporting David Lacson who is running for mayor of EB Magalona against incumbent Mayor Alfonso Gamboa, and Jose "Oti" Montelibano who is running against Silay Mayor Carlos Gamban.

He said he did not know if businessman Ramon Lacson was changing his mind about not running. Supporters of the businessman are reportedly urging him not to give up his bid to run for mayor of Talisay against incumbent Mayor Eric Saratan.

Meanwhile, Lacson said some senatorial candidates of Team Unity are expected to campaign in Negros Occidental on Friday. Lacson said he heard that Ralph Recto, Edgardo Angara, Vicente Magsaysay and maybe Mike Defensor are coming.*CPG
