Budget woes hound
nat'l Prisaa hosting

The Western Visayas Private Schools and Athletics Association lacks funds for its hosting of this year's National PRISAA Games in Iloilo City from April 15-21 Roger Banzuela, chairman of the Western Visayas PRISAA technical committee, said yesterday.

Banzuela said the fund constraints stemmed from the expenses that the delegation spent in its campaign during last year's edition of the national meet in Pangasinan.

Banzuela added that because of the association's budget problems, the Negros delegation's transportation expenses will be shouldered by the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural and Educational Association delegation instead of the PRISAA.

In a telephone interview however, Nenitte Bajador, general sports manager of the Iloilo PRISAA, said that the lack of funds will not affect their hosting of the school-based national meet.

She added that aside from the financial support of the Iloilo City local and provincial governments, they have also set a walk-for-a-cause program to augment their budget, particularly for the event's venue development.

The Iloilo PRISAA Walk for a Cause slated on March 4 will be a three-kilometer "fun walk" from the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand to the La Paz plaza and will be participated in by PRISAA member schools in the city.*PP
